Climate Change: What Every Scuba Diver Should Know
2
I will be sending an announcement to all the scuba shops in Colorado asking them to share this with their clientele.  I will be making a flier available and a blurb they can post on their website or facebook page.  I also intend to call as many shop owners as I can to obtain their buy-in.

My presentation will be fairly standard for me since I've been opening with a personal story about my dive to Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and the underwater shrine/statue “Christ of the Abyss”; that dive shocked me into action because of the horrifying state of the reef.

Divers are the beneficiary of science and I will be highlighting this as I talk about the science of climate change.  I will also be noting that dive science has not been static,  its improved over time.  So many climate deniers use out of date information or resist the idea that our knowledge of the climate crisis has evolved and if anything points to the conclusion that it's happening faster than expected so we need action now.

And since I and the audience live in Colorado, I will be including how the fire season has increased over time going from 1 month in the 1970s to 4 today and how the acreage burned in a decade back then now goes up in flames in just a year.  Sadly, the Pine Gulch fire just burned more acreage than any other fire in Colorado's history and we all had to live with the smokey fallout.

I will be keeping my presentation to 30 minutes and field questions for the rest of the hour.
